Steve Irwin

Well, if you haven't heard already, the famed Croc Hunter died today. He was shooting a new show off the coast about deadliest creatures and was hit with a barb from a stingray. Here is a youtube video link of some of the Australian news coverage, since its 10 minutes long I didn't want to embed it (link).

While many people remember him as either the crazy guy on tv flirting with crocs or the cool guy on tv playing with crocs, he was more than that. His message was conservation of the environment and animals of all kinds. He never intentionally injured any animal he worked with and even cried when one died at his Australia Zoo (link). Some people have made fun of that video but I would be the same way about Thor and I was almost that way with Bandit.

What should someone take from this? Well, he did what he was most passionate about. Creatures of all kinds. He made millions of dollars from wrestling crocs, teaching us about snakes, and doing what he loved. Then he started taking that money and pouring it into wildlife conservation. We all should be so lucky as finding what we love as enjoyable as he and his wife did.

Rest in peace, Steve 'Croc Hunter' Irwin.
