Say it ain't so Joe!

In December 2006 Alabama was going through a coaching change and Joe Kines, Defensive coordinator, was the interim head coach. Kines did a good job of defensive coaching during his time at Alabama but was not retained as defensive coordinator when Saban was filling out his staff. He had been working in the athletic department as a fund raiser, but now he is heading out to Texas A&M for a stint as their defensive coordinator. But we have to remember Ole Joe for his short time as the Alabama head coach. Thank goodness that there is youtube!

Also in other news, Joey Jones is southbound to be the first head coach for South Alabama. He was announced at a press conference at 11am this morning. He will also be introduced during the half time festivities at Saturday's basketball game.

Jones played and graduated from Murphy High School and was a standout at Alabama under Bear Bryant for three years from '80 to '83. He was hired to start up the Birmingham Southern football program that was dismantled in 1939. Now he is set to come home to Mobile to start up the Jaguar football program.
