While I was out

Well, while I was down and out with what appears to have been the flu I didn't get to write about national signing day. This is the day when High School seniors get to sign their national letter of intent for college football. I don't know if this is the same day for other sports, but who cares.

Alabama comes away with the golden crown of the nations best recruiting class. Fans of other schools may dismiss this as just an off season nothing but it has been shown time and time again that it leads to lots of wins. Here are some cold hard facts.

Bama signed 7 of the top 10 players in the state of Alabama, every single one in the top 5. Auburn was shut out of the top 10.

Bama signed 15 players that were offered scholarships to Auburn. Auburn signed not a single player that was offered a scholarship to Bama.

Alabama has broken the LSU/Auburn sweeps of players from the Mobile area in the last few years. They are starting to recruit outside of the southeast (landing recruits from the Michigan and West Virginia areas). But the biggest thing is that Alabama is back to being a big name amongst prospects.
