Visiting the family

Well, Thursday morning I left out going home to see the family and such missing Picklefish this week :( Oh well, sometimes you just miss out on stuff. The drive was uneventful, no wrecks and very minimal slow downs from construction. On the way I was listening to an audio book given to me by Tammy. Its the first book in the Dresden Files series. Although I haven't finished it yet, I can tell you it has been very enjoyable. The best part is that James Marsters (Spike from Buffy and Angel) is the voice talent.

Thor was quite excited to see mom as usual. She loves to give him doggie treats. Actually, right now as I'm writing this he is on the bed falling asleep with his head on a mound of stuff resembling a pillow and curled up next to my Alabama comforter.

Some people in the ACM wants to get involved in a contest Google is hosting where you make a 3D representation of your school and submit it to them. The winners get a paid trip to Google with all kinds of goodies. I think I will try to help some with this :) Hopefully, in the coming months you will be able to look at USA in 3D using Google Earth!

Mardi Gras was a great time downtown with BJD and others. I watched a guy get arrested, one carted off in an ambulance with supposed head injuries (don't ask me), and a guy falling off of a float during the Order of Myth's parade. Plus....um......I got to see a girl flash the float for throws.... WOOOOO!!!!!

Peace out

Oh, my Ballmer hurts...

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has blamed all of the pirates out there for the low sales results for their new Operating System Windows Vista. Stevie boy, maybe you should put down the Microsoft Genuine Kool-Aid and drink something else. The pirates aren't the reason why your new OS isn't flying off the shelves. Its your companies stubborn resistance to listen to what your customers want and do not want. This coupled with the lack of drivers for prevalent hardware and incompatibility with lots of existing software and you've got yourself several good reasons not to buy it if you ask me.

I have LEGALLY downloaded my free copy from the MSDNAA partnership website my school has. I have not installed it yet and probably will not unless I am forced to. Hopefully, by then it will be a dual boot with Linux or maybe in VMWare.

I think the best thing I have heard lately was when they sponsored a programming contest at a nearby company. I think they had 3 copies of Vista Home Premium as prizes for the contestants. Obviously, the Xbox 360s went first. But team after team comes up to choose their prizes and skip over Vista. Finally, the last team comes up with a choice between Vista and wireless keyboards (which were meant to be given away as door prizes) and they choose the wireless keyboards. So, instead Vista is given away as door prizes to people who were less than enthused to receive them.

Finally, Mardi Gras 2007 comes to a close tomorrow with the Fat Tuesday celebration. I'll be downtown having fun.

Concert Tuesday night

For those of you who read my rants and stuff, here is a preview of a concert coming to Mobile Tuesday night. The Soul Kitchen, in downtown Mobile, will be hosting Yonder Mountain String Band for a concert. I will definitely be there and for those of you who are unsure or what not. Here are two videos of this talented foursome. Enjoy, I know I did.

Its gotta be...

They matched up the Chicago Bears against the Indianapolis Colts in a game of Tecmo Super Bowl. I used to play this game ALOT when I was younger. My friend Michael and I used to play it against each other and had some really good games. So, when I ran across this video predicting the winner of the super bowl coming up on Sunday, I have to put a lot of stock into it. If Tecmo says its so, its gotta be you know ;)
